Crafted to your specifications and yours alone, a bespoke commission from B.H-Jones is the truest expression of personal style. Whether you are drawn to an entirely original creation or wish to adapt one of our existing designs to better suit your taste, a custom order places you at the heart of the making process.

Every custom hat is made to order and to your exact measurements, using carefully selected materials chosen for their quality and character. Most elements — from crown height and brim width to material, trim, and finish — may be tailored within a considered range, guided by our design sensibilities and available tooling. This ensures that every commission is made to the standard of craftsmanship and style that B.H-Jones is built upon.

Starting from our collection

Our Flagship Designs represent the current B.H-Jones aesthetic — a growing body of work that reflects our design sensibilities and the range of what we make. Each piece has been developed with a considered balance between all its elements: crown and brim proportions, ribbon and bow style, and overall form. They serve as a natural starting point for a custom commission.

All flagship designs can be made in different felt and ribbon colour combinations, and many can accommodate variations in ribbon width. Beyond this, style elements can be combined in ways not shown — brim binding, minor adjustments to crown height or brim width, bow design, sweatband colour, and liner style can all be discussed.

How it works

All custom hats are made to order and crafted to your exact measurements. A typical commission follows the steps below.

1. Choose your starting point Browse our Flagship Designs for inspiration, or come to us with your own idea — however formed or unformed it may be. You can also visit The Archives for further inspiration.

2. Get in touch Use the contact form on this page to send us your enquiry. We are a small operation and will get back to you as soon as we can.

3. Consultation Once we have reviewed your enquiry, we will be in touch to arrange a brief consultation. This can be done however suits you best:

  • Email — useful for sharing reference images
  • Video call — FaceTime, Zoom, WhatsApp, or another app of your choice
  • In person — if you are in the Lincolnshire area
  • Instant messaging — if you prefer a more informal exchange

Getting your size right is essential to a good fit. Alongside the consultation, we offer a sizing kit that can be shipped to you for a small fee — details can be found here. For instructions on how to use the kit, see our step-by-step video guide.

During the consultation we will work through everything together: your measurements (and how to take them, if needed), crown and brim proportions, felt colour, sweatband leather and style, ribbon style and colour, and any additional trimmings or finishes such as edge binding or bow style. Felt, leather, and ribbon samples can be posted out if helpful.

4. Quote & deposit Once the consultation is complete, we will confirm the final price for your hat, including any additional features, shipping, and applicable taxes. To proceed, a deposit of 50% of the total order value is required to secure your commission and begin work. The remaining balance is due upon completion.

5. Making With the deposit received, work on your hat begins. We will keep you updated throughout the process via your preferred communication channel or our social media.

6. Completion & final payment When your hat is finished, we will be in touch to arrange settlement of the remaining balance. Your hat will be shipped once payment has been received in full. Tracking information will be provided in accordance with our Shipping Terms and Conditions.

Timescales Crafting time ranges from several weeks to a few months, depending on the design, trimmings, and our current workload. Any timescales given are estimates — we will be in touch as your hat nears completion.


Prices & payment

Custom orders are secured with a 50% deposit, with the balance due on completion. Prefer to pay in full upfront? We also accept payment via Klarna and all major cards.

Hats are shipped only once full payment has been received. If you would like a quote before committing to an enquiry — including shipping and taxes — please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

All custom hats are dispatched in a hat box.


Shipping

Shipping is calculated and confirmed at the time of your quote. UK orders are dispatched via Royal Mail Special Delivery (Next Day, Tracked & Signed with £750 cover), ensuring your commission arrives safely and securely. International shipping is available — rates will be confirmed during the consultation process.


Returns
