Most people have never owned a hat that truly fits. Not just in size — but in shape, proportion, character. A hat that feels like it was always yours.
That's what makes commissioning a bespoke hat different. And if you've been wondering how to commission a bespoke hat — what it involves, what to expect, how long it takes — this is for you.
You don't need a brief
The most common thing people say when they get in touch is some version of: I'm not sure exactly what I want, but… That's a perfectly good place to start. A colour you keep coming back to. A silhouette you've seen somewhere and can't forget. A sense of occasion, or simply a feeling.
We work from all of it.
If you can imagine it, it's probably possible.
It's a conversation
There's no form to fill in, no catalogue to tick boxes on. We talk — by email, video call, message, or in person if you're in Lincolnshire — and work through the details together. Crown shape, brim width, felt colour, leather, ribbon, finish.
One thing worth knowing: hat sizing is more personal than most people realise. We've had customers discover through our sizing kit that they'd been wearing the wrong size for years — not because they measured wrong, but because the shape of their head had never been accounted for. Getting that right is part of what makes a commission feel the way it should.

The commission process, step by step
Once you're ready to go ahead, here's how it works:
- A 50% deposit secures your commission and we begin work
- Most bespoke hats are completed within 6–10 weeks — handmade in Lincolnshire, UK
- We'll keep you updated as your hat takes shape
- When it's finished, we'll arrange delivery — or collection if you're local

Whether you're after a fur felt fedora, a Panama for summer, or something entirely your own — a custom hat commission starts with a single conversation.
If you've been thinking about it, the only thing left to do is ask.
